4,500+ athletes to participate in Khelo India University Games
The Khelo India University Games, which will be held in Bengaluru from April 24 to May 3, is supposed to see the participation of 4,529 competitors from 189 colleges the nation over, Secretary in the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs.
The occasion will likewise observe the consideration of two native disciplines ‘Yogasana’ and ‘Mallakhamb’ in the games category.

The event was before planned to occur in 2021 however was required to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Karnataka Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister Dr K C Narayana Gowda, who led the gathering, said Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will introduce the occasion.

Jain Global University is facilitating the occasion. The occasions will be held at 14 areas spread across Jain Global University Campus, Jain Sports School, Kanteerava Stadium, Field Marshal Cariappa Hockey Stadium and the Sports Authority of India National Center of Excellence, Bengaluru.

The games will be led in 20 disciplines and a sum of 275 gold medals will be available to anyone. With the presentation of Yogasana and Mallakhamb, the absolute number of disciplines has gone up to 20, she said.

The total sum estimated is Rs 52 crore of which Rs 35 crore will be borne by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The event will be telecasted in real time on the All India Radio and broadcast from different channels of Doordarshan and social media entertainment stages.

A sum of 7,500 individuals including the competitors are expected to participate in the games.
