Brazil
Brazil has advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals in seven of the last eight tournaments. They were champions in 1994 and 2002, as well as runners-up in 1998, but have only made it to the semi-finals once since, as hosts in 2014, when they were humiliated 7-1 by Germany.
Brazil striker Neymar, who scored twice in Monday’s 4-1 win over South Korea, also scored twice when Brazil defeated Croatia 3-1 in the group stage in 2014.
Croatia
Croatia has only won once in 90 minutes in four games, a 4-1 group stage win over Canada, followed by goalless draws with Morocco and Belgium, before defeating Japan on penalties after the score was tied 1-1 after extra time.
Croatia has won all three penalty shootouts at the World Cup. They defeated Denmark in the last 16, Russia in the quarter-finals, and Japan on Monday.
