India will arrive in Bangladesh on December 1 to play three ODIs and two Tests. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh on Thursday, with Dhaka set to host all three ODIs along with the second Test, while the first Test will be played in Chattogram.

The tour will begin with the three-match ODI series on December 4, 7 and 10 at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. After the ODI series, both the teams will then travel to Chattogram to play the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from December 14 to 18, after which they return to Dhaka to play the second Test from December 22 to 26. After the completion of the tour, India will depart Bangladesh on December 27.

Both Tests are part of the ongoing World Test Championship, where India is currently in the fourth position with 52.08 percentage points while Bangladesh is in the last position with 13.33 percentage points.

The two-match Test series in Bangladesh will be crucial for India to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the WTC final, which will be played at The Oval in June 2023. India’s final assignment in the 2021-23 cycle will be a four-match home Test series against Australia in February-March 2023.

In an official statement, BCB President Nazmul Hassan said, “The Bangladesh-India matches in recent history have given us some epic contests and fans from both countries are eagerly waiting for another memorable series. I thank the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for working closely with the BCB in confirming the schedule. We look forward to welcoming the Indian team to Bangladesh.”

Speaking about the upcoming tour to Bangladesh, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, “I extend my best wishes to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the upcoming bilateral series featuring India. The India-Bangladesh contests generate tremendous interest among the fans thanks to the massive fan following the two teams enjoy.”

“We know how passionate the fans in Bangladesh are and I am sure they will be treated to some exhilarating contests both in white-ball and red-ball cricket. With the crucial World Test Championship points at stake, the two Test matches are very important and both teams will go hard for the win,” he added.
