According to a memo from the NBA office that Yahoo Sports received, the league will not require players to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in 2022–23 after several high-profile vaccine-related absences from games last season.
According to the report, the league would “highly advise” that team members stay current on their immunizations.
If unvaccinated players will be subject to routine COVID-19 testing throughout the upcoming season is still up for debate between the league and the NBA Players Association.
The COVID-19 vaccine was not mandated by the NBA last season, but players who were not immunised or who had not had a booster dose were nevertheless subject to certain regulations, such as game-day testing. In addition, players were held liable for state laws requiring specific vaccinations.
