Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra pulls out of Birmingham Commonwealth Games due to fitness concerns.

“Neeraj Chopra will miss the Commonwealth games as his fitness is not 100%,” reported Times Network citing Rajeev Mehta, IOA General Secretary

At the World Athletics Championship in Eugene on Sunday, Chopra bagged a silver medal but also strained his groin.

Following his participation in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Neeraj Chopra had a MRI scan done on Monday and, based on it, he has been advised a month’s rest by his medical team.

At the most recent World Athletics Championships 2022 in Oregon, US, Chopra took home a silver medal.

India’s major news of Oregon 2022 was his silver medal in the men’s javelin throw, as the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist finally ended the nation’s 19-year wait for a medal at the world championships. In his fourth attempt, Neeraj, competing in the men’s javelin throw final, recorded a distance of 88.13 metres, placing him in second place.
