P V Sindhu finished her Badminton Asia Championships crusade with a bronze meedal subsequent to going down battling to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in three games.

The 26-year-old began the match optimistically yet couldn’t move the triumphant energy along, losing 21-13 19-21 16-21 to the favorite and world No. 2 Yamaguchi in the conflict, which endured one hour and six minutes.

This is Sindhu’s second medal in the competition – she had guaranteed a bronze in the 2014 Gimcheon edition.

The Hyderabad shuttler, who came out on top for two Super 300 championships at Syed Modi International and Swiss Open, won the first game.

In the second game, the fourth-seeded Sindhu was given a point penalty for taking a lot of time between points, prompting an argument with the ref.

The argument between the two prompted a momentum shift as Yamaguchi evened out the procedures to compel a decider.

The head-to-head among Sindhu and Yamaguchi is currently 13-9 in the Indian’s favor.

With Sindhu’s loss, India’s test at the individual continental title has ended.
