Real Madrid won a record-extending 35th LaLiga title after two first-half goals from Rodrygo prodded them to a 4-0 home win over Espanyol on Saturday.

The success additionally made Carlo Ancelotti the first manager to win titles in every one of Europe’s best five leagues — England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France.

Rodrygo’s two goals put Real 2-0 up at the break before Marco Asensio added a third following 55 minutes and LaLiga top scorer Karim Benzema seized the points in the 81st.

Real Madrid have 81 points with four games to go. They are 17 points ahead of second-set Sevilla and 18 clear of Barcelona, who have a game close by, and required a point against Espanyol to secure the title with nearly 30 days of the time remaining.

It was a record-breaking day for Marcelo, who won his 24th trophy with Real Madird to jump Gento as the player with the most trophy successes in the club’s 120-year history.
