Ruturaj Gaikwad, India’s and Maharashtra’s opening batsman, was on fire against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final.

On Monday, he became the first player in List history to score 43 runs. A game single over, one run came as a result of a no-ball, and thus Shiva Singh’s innings came to an end.

His unbeaten 220-run performance contributed to his state team scoring 330 runs in fifty overs. In the final over of the innings, he scored 43 runs off Shiva Singh’s bowling, which was the best part of his knock.

Ruturaj Gaikwad became the 11th Indian batter in List-A history to score a double century. He was also the first to do so while representing Maharashtra.

Ankit Bawne previously held the record for the highest individual score for Maharashtra in List-A matches. Last week, he scored 184 runs off 143 balls against Puducherry in Ranchi. Ruturaj has now set a new record with an innings of 220 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Maharashtra captain, hit seven consecutive sixes in this over. When the fifth ball of the inning turned, the over was won by 43 runs.
