Pramod Madushan and Wanindu Hasaranga sharedseven wickets as Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs on Sunday to win their sixth Asia Cup title.
Pakistan were bowled out for 147 in Dubai, chasing 171 for victory, with Madushan taking four wickets and Hasaranga taking 3-27.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa hit an unbeaten 71 to help Sri Lanka recover from a 58-5 deficit after Pakistan put them in to bat.
Imagine this team being thrashed by Afghanistan in their first game. And just think about how this team will have to qualify for the next T20 World Cup.
The decline in Sri Lanka cricket began with some notable players retiring in 2015, followed by a steady rotation of players, a game of musical chairs for the captaincy, and humiliating losses even at home.
They got off to a terrible start tonight as well, being reduced to 58/5 with the bat before giving up nine runs in extras before the first legitimate delivery of the innings.
However, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam both continued their poor form, and Rizwan and Iftikhar’s recuperation was a touch too lengthy and drawn out.
And when they did, the scone broke, giving Sri Lanka a chance to experience history.
