India ODI vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur says the team is benefitting hugely from the presence of a sports psychologist during its visit through New Zealand for the World Cup such expert assistance is the need of the hour.
Mughda Bavare is a sports psychologist travelling with the Indian team on a two-month long visit through New Zealand including a bilateral series and ODI World Cup.
Harmanpreet Kaur had before likewise spoken on the requirement for an psychologist to manage strain of knockout games but with tours now being played in bubbles, the expert assistance is required even more.
“Mugdha Ma’am (sports psychologist) has traveled with us and she has helped us a lot. World Cup is a very important tournament. When I spoke to her and the solutions, it brought in a lot of awareness. I can see she is continuously talking to other players as well,” Harmanpreet Kaur on having a sports psychologist travelling with the team.
“During the New Zealand series when I wasn’t scoring runs and things weren’t going my way, I went into a shell. Speaking to team sports psychologist Mugdha Bavare has been helpful in these times and I’m sure every player has benefitted,” she added.
