Manchester United current manager Michael Carrick feels Donny van de Beek’s flexibility will hold him in great stead for what’s to come.
Van de Beek has highlighted all the more noticeably in the last few weeks, and could get really playing time with Fred expected to miss a couple of games because of injury.
Fred twisted his lower leg during the success over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday and probably won’t play against Chelsea on Sunday.
Fred’s physical issue implies van de Beek may get a drawn out run in the group, yet he might need to play in a more profound role.
Carrick clarified that the Dutchman’s flexibility could assist him with opening into various situations without influencing the general state of the team.
“Donny’s one of those players who’s so flexible and can play different positions, he did the same at Ajax and for Holland,” Michael Carrick said.
“Variety can be a real strength. We’ve got ideas for where we think Donny is most suited but being so flexible is a real strength and a credit to what he can be for the team,” he added.
With Ralf Rangnick set to take over as interim manager soon, Donny van de Beek will get one more opportunity to revive his Manchester United vocation.
So far this season, Van de Beek has shown up across all competitions for Manchester United. Just three of those have been starts, and not even one of them have come in the Premier League.
