The Olympics qualification period began on July 1, 2023, and will continue until June 30, 2024, allowing athletes to strive for their spots in the prestigious event.
The race was won by Moroccan world and Olympic champion El Bakkali Soufiane, who set a meet record with a time of 8:03.16. Kenyan athletes Abraham Kibiwot (8:08.03) and Leonard Kipkemoi Bett (8:09.45) finished in second and third place, respectively.

Furthermore, long jumper Murali Sreeshankar has qualified for the Games, making it a notable achievement for Indian athletes.
The race walk events are held on the road during the Olympics, while the long jump is a field event. On the other hand, the 3000m steeplechase, in which Avinash Sable excels, is run on the track.
