Barcelona Move to Secure Hamza Abdelkarim’s Future

Barcelona are moving quickly to secure Hamza Abdelkarim’s future at the club.

The Egyptian teenager has impressed since arriving in Catalonia. Now, Barcelona want to reward his rapid progress with an improved contract.

According to recent reports, the club has held talks with Abdelkarim’s agent, Christian Emile. The main aim is to improve his current deal and significantly increase his release clause.

Barcelona Want a €150 Million Release Clause

Abdelkarim currently has a release clause of around €15 million.

Barcelona believe that figure is too low. As a result, the club reportedly wants to raise the clause to €150 million.

That would represent a tenfold increase.

The proposed change shows how quickly the situation has developed. Just months ago, Barcelona signed Abdelkarim permanently from Al Ahly.

Now, the club sees the 18-year-old as an important part of its long-term plans.

Barcelona officially completed the permanent transfer in June. The striker signed a contract running until June 2029 after the club activated its purchase option.

Abdelkarim Has Quickly Impressed

Abdelkarim’s rise has been rapid.

He initially joined Barcelona on loan in February 2026. After completing the necessary formalities, he made his debut for the Juvenil A side in March.

The Egyptian immediately made an impact.

He scored six goals in nine league appearances. He also scored a hat-trick against Montecarlo as Barcelona secured the División de Honor title.

Those performances convinced Barcelona to make the move permanent.

However, his biggest breakthrough came during pre-season.

Four Goals Put Abdelkarim in the Spotlight

The teenager joined Hansi Flick’s first-team squad during pre-season.

He quickly caught the manager’s attention.

Abdelkarim scored four goals during pre-season. That made him Barcelona’s leading scorer during the preparation period.

His performances also highlighted his qualities as a traditional centre-forward.

He offers physical strength, movement and a strong instinct inside the box. More importantly, he has shown that he can link up with teammates while still looking for the goal.

As a result, Barcelona began looking at his future differently.

From Prospect to First-Team Player

Abdelkarim’s progress has also taken him into senior football.

The Egyptian made his official Barcelona debut against Rayo Vallecano on August 31. He became the first Egyptian player to represent Barcelona’s first team.

He has also been included in Barcelona’s Champions League squad for the 2026/27 campaign. The club has registered him with the first team for the competition.

Meanwhile, Flick has publicly backed the youngster.

The Barcelona coach has indicated that Abdelkarim deserves an opportunity. That could become increasingly important as the season progresses.

Barcelona Do Not Want Another Surprise Exit

The urgency behind the new deal is also understandable.

Barcelona have recently experienced the loss of a promising young player after a low release clause was triggered.

Therefore, the club does not want to face a similar situation with Hamza Abdelkarim.

His current €15 million clause could attract interest from clubs across Europe. Raising it to €150 million would give Barcelona much greater protection.

It would also send a clear message about the club’s belief in his potential.

Abdelkarim’s Future Looks Bright

For Hamza Abdelkarim, the situation represents another major step in his rapid rise.

He arrived from Al Ahly as a promising young striker. Within months, he had impressed at youth level, earned a permanent move and scored regularly during pre-season.

Now, he has made his first-team debut and entered Barcelona’s Champions League plans.

Barcelona are therefore looking to secure his future before his value rises even further.

The club already has Abdelkarim under contract until 2029. However, the proposed new agreement could give him improved terms while dramatically increasing his release clause.

Ultimately, Barcelona see Hamza Abdelkarim as a player worth protecting.

At just 18, the Egyptian forward is still at the beginning of his journey. Yet his rapid rise has already convinced Barcelona to act quickly.

The next step is now to complete the new agreement and ensure that one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards remains in Catalonia for the long term.
