The BCCI fired the four-member senior national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma on Friday, following India’s failure to reach the final of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
During Chetan’s tenure, India also failed to advance to the knockout stages of the T20 World Cup in 2021 and lost the World Test Championships final.
Chetan (North Zone), Harvinder Singh (Centra Zone), Sunil Joshi (South Zone), and Debasish Mohanty (East Zone) have served as senior national selectors for the shortest time in recent memory. Some were appointed in 2020, while others in 2021.
A senior national selector is normally appointed for a four-year term that can be extended. After Abbey Kuruvilla’s tenure ended, there was no West Zone selector.
On Friday, the BCCI invited applications for the position of national selectors (Senior Men).
The last date of application is November 28.
