India won their fourth consecutive match in the ODI World Cup 2023 by defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets. India was dominant in all the departments and is continuing their hot form.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first at the MCA stadium, in Pune. Batting first Bangladesh openers were off to the flyer, Tanzid Hasan struck a brisk 43 ball-51 in a first-wicket partnership of 93 runs with Liton Das. Liton Das was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 66 off 82 balls.

Bangladesh suffered a mid-innings collapse, losing four wickets for 36 runs after a solid start. Later, Mushfiqur Rahim along with Mahmudullah the two experienced batters steadied the innings with Mushfiqur playing a 38-run knock while the latter played a breezy knock of 36 balls 46.

Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each. While Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav scalped one wicket each. Hardik Pandya went for the scans after sustaining an ankle injury in his first spell. His remaining spell was continued by Virat Kohli who bowled three deliveries which created an excitement among the fans. He bowled in an ODI match after almost six years. Bangladesh set up a target of 257 for India.

Chasing a total, India was off to a great start. Rohit Sharma continuing his brilliant form was hitting the ball cleanly and out of the park. He fell short of two runs as he was dismissed on 48 by Hasan Mahmud. Later Virat Kohli paired with Shubman Gill.

Both the batters steadied the innings while Shubman Scored a half-century but was dismissed shortly on 55 by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Later Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer looked quite secure as India was cruising in the chase. Virat Kohli scored his 69th ODI half-century.

India floated along, to the point that Rahul decided to ensure Virat took most of the strike and got his century. The one-sided game suddenly became interesting and Kohli finally finished the game with a magnificent six out of the park and completed his 48th ODI ton.

Virat even completed 26,000 International runs and went past ahead of Mahela Jayawardena as he became the fourth-highest run-getter in international cricket across all formats.

He was adjudged as the Player of the Match as he scored a brilliant knock of 103* off 97 balls. India will play New Zealand next who is the second team in this World Cup who are unbeaten. Both the teams will clash on 22nd October at Dharamshala.
