Three-time FIFA World Cup champ Pele on Thursday expressed he is feeling “better” and wisecracked that he can hardly wait to return to playing the beautiful game.
Considered by numerous individuals to be the best footballer ever, Pele has been in chronic weakness lately and has had many spells in the medical clinic.
“Thanks to God, I`m better, I`m even ready to play on Sunday,” he joked, just two weeks after leaving hospital following surgery on a colon tumour.
On August 31, Pele was hospitalized for clinical trials at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, which uncovered a cancer. The 80-year-old then, at that point, went through effective medical procedure to eliminate a growth on the right half of his colon.
“In all seriousness, thank you for everything, thank you to everyone that has sent me hugs and given me strength,” he added in a video message published on the Instagram accounts of two of his children.
Pele is the first player in history to win three World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He burst onto the worldwide stage at only 17 with amazing goals, remembering two for the last against has Sweden, as Brazil won the World Cup without precedent for 1958.
