India named a 18-part member women’s hockey team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, with Rani Rampal left out once again to recapture full wellness after an injury.
The CWG group is basically the same as the one participating in the World Cup one month from now.
The side will be captained by goalkeeper Savita Punia while experienced Deep Grace Ekka will be her deputy in the Birmingham CWG, to be held from July 28 to August 8.

There are just three changes in the CWG squad from the World Cup group. Rajani Etimarpu was named instead of Bichu Devi Kharibam as number two goalkeeper while World Cup player Sonika (midfielder) was forgotten about from the CWG squad. Forward Sangita Kumari, who was named as one of the replacement players for the World Cup, figured in the CWG group as a full member.
Rani, who drove the Indian team to a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics, was picked for the new FIH Pro League matches in Belgium and Netherlands subsequent to recuperating from a hamstring injury.
