The Indian cricket fans wished to see Virat Kohli back in action in the second India versus New Zealand Test in Mumbai. Although, it was frustrating to realize that the toss was deferred because of a wet outfield and the umpires were thinking that it is hard to proceed with the first day’s play on schedule.

It’s been raining  vigorously throughout the last two days in Mumbai. Consistent rain likewise prompted the retraction of training sessions on Wednesday.

While the Wankhede pitch was under covers all through, the hosts had an indoor net meeting a day before the initiation of the last Test.

Umpire Nitin Menon expressed that the officials are worried about the safety of the players and guaranteed about the beginning of the game.

“The conditions won’t be 100% because it’s been raining for two days. Our main concern is the safety of the players, so if the close-in conditions get better, we’ll have a game today. The concern is the in-field,” Nitin Menon told Star Sports.

On Friday morning, it didn’t rain however the wet outfield didn’t permit the play to begin on planned time. After the 1st inspection that took place at 9:30am IST the toss was delayed. Post that another inspection was held at 10:30am and it was decided that the toss will tale place at 11:30am and the play will start at 12pm IST.
