Khelo India University Games gets off to a grand start

The second edition of the Khelo India University Games was inaugurated by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at the Sree Kanteerava indoor stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. In the 10-day occasion, more than 4,000 of the country’s future competitors will take part to win 257 gold medals.

VP M Venkaiah Naidu attended the inaugural function  alongside Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai and state Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, among others. The debut occasion saw amazing exhibitions in the midst of spellbinding sound and light show.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a holistic approach and 100 percent dedication are the vital necessities of progress in sports. Sharing his message at the initiation of the Khelo India University Games, Mr Modi underlined the significance of camaraderie as the principal mantra of achievement.He said, qualities and learnings from the games field likewise takes one forward throughout everyday life. He underscored that games, in genuine sense, is the certified emotionally supportive network of life.

The Prime Minister added that the Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru will add to the energy of this beautiful city as  Bengaluru symbolizes the youthful enthusiasm of the country and is pride of the professionals.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that the Games give a stage to the young athletes of India. It is a dream of the Prime Minister  to organise the Games in a bid to create opportunities for the sportspersons to showcase their capabilities.
