Khelo India Youth Games 2022 Madhya Pradesh has officially started. While the Gala Opening Ceremony would be held in the capital city of Bhopal in the evening, the competitive rounds of three sporting disciplines were played across three venues in three different cities on Monday, the opening day of these games.

The Khelo India Youth Games 2022 Madhya Pradesh (KIYG2022MP) will be held till 11th February, 2023, across eight different cities viz; Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Mandla, Balaghat, Ujjain and Khargone (Maheshwar), in the state while the track cycling event will be hosted in Delhi.

In the Girls category Yashaswini Ghorpade of Karnataka, a TOPS development athlete, moved into the second round defeating Prithoki Chakraborty of Haryana 3-1 (11-6, 12-10, 11-13, 11-9) in a hard-fought Table Tennis match, as the young paddlers began their business at the Abhay Prashal in Indore.

In the Boys category Uttar Pradesh’s Sharath Mishra defeated Maharshtra’s Neel Mulye 3-0 in a tough five-game contest.

Similarly, West Bengal and Odisha won in the Boys category while Punjab, Karnataka and Maharashtra won in the Girls category in Kho Kho, which also got off the blocks on the day, at the Ranital Sports Complex in Jabalpur.

Apart from this, Haryana, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu won in the Girls’ category while Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh ran out winners amongst the Boys, in the volleyball pool games which were the first to kick-off at 8.30am in the morning at Bhopal‘s SAI Regional Centre Indoor Hall.

In the Kho Kho Boys games, West Bengal defeated Madhya Pradesh 24-20 (24-10, 0-10) while Odisha defeated Chhattisgarh 36-22 (18-8, 18-14).

Also, Maharashtra defeated Telangana 28-24 (28-14, 0-10) and Delhi defeated Andhra Pradesh 30-26 (22-14, 8-12). In the Girls matches, Punjab defeated Madhya Pradesh 32-12 (32-6, 0-6) while Karnataka defeated West Bengal 30-28 (20-12, 10-16) in a tight encounter. The Maharashtra girls also defeated Tamil Nadu with the score reading 36-18 (36-8,0-10).

In Boys volleyball at the SAI Regional Centre, Gujarat were dominant and beat Delhi 3-0 while Tamil Nadu beat hosts Madhya Pradesh 3-0. In the Girls section, Haryana defeated Uttar Pradesh 3-2 and West Bengal defeated Karnataka 3-0 to enter the next round. Tamil Nadu then went on to defeat Madhya Pradesh 3-0, before Kerala inflicted a similar scoreline on the girls from Gujarat.

Suhana Saini of Haryana faced Oishiki Joardar of West Bengal in the first match of Group-A in the Girls singles category in Table Tennis (TT) matches at Abhay Prashal, Indore where Suhana won 3-0 (11-9, 11-8, 11-8).
