Venkatesh Iyer played another heavenly of a thump as the Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Delhi Capitals by three wickets to advance through to the IPL 2021 final.

Venkatesh Iyer, who came into the playing XI in the second phase of the tournament, made some eminent commitments and has been instrumental in directing KKR to the finals. He along with Shubman Gill stitched 96 runs to set the run chase in Sharjah.

The all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh played his shots well to score his third half-century of the second leg before the Kolkata Knight Riders encountered an unexpected collapse.

Eventually, Rahul Tripathi’s six off Ravichandran Ashwin’s penultimate ball guaranteed that Kolkata Knight Riders a spot in the finals of the Indian Premier League 2021. He had confidence in himself and realized he was just one hit away from a win.

Prior to the penultimate ball, Rahul Tripathi was six off 10 balls. In the interim Ashwin had parted with just a run off his four balls in that finished and got two wickets.

“The win for the team was very important. There were one or two tough overs, but I never thought it would go so deep in the end. I am glad we won the game. The 18th over was a great one from Rabada. I knew that we had to connect with just one off the spinner, and I am glad it came off,” he said in the post match presentation.

KKR were placed in seventh spot at the midway stage with only two successes from seven matches. In the UAE leg, they won five out of their seven games to enter the end of the season games.

Rahul Tripathi has been KKR’s best batter in the IPL 2021 with 395 runs at an average of 30.4, striking at 141.1.
