Paris Saint-Germain won 1-0 at Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday, extending their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to two points.

Messi scored his fourth league goal of the season in the fifth minute, giving Christophe Galtier’s side 22 points from eight games.

Olympique de Marseille is second after a 1-1 home draw with Stade Rennais earlier in the day. Lyon is sixth with 13 points after losing their last three games.

PSG won nine and drew one of their ten games in all competitions, and while their brilliance has waned recently, they were still a cut above at the Groupama Stadium.

The performance, however, was insufficient for PSG midfielder Vitinha, who felt they should have won the game.

PSG got off to a flying start, with Messi beating Anthony Lopes from just inside the area after collecting Neymar’s pass.

Marseille fell behind in the 25th minute when Guendouzi deflected a cross from Hamari Traore into his own goal.

However, seven minutes into the second half, the France international made amends by heading home from Jordan Veretout’s corner.

In other news, Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off after nine seconds in a 1-0 loss to Angers, while Monaco moved up to fifth with a 3-0 win at Stade de Reims.
