Referees will now explain VAR-related decisions directly to fans within the stadium and to television audiences. This initiative involves the use of audio technology that enables officials to communicate the rationale behind decisions made after on-field reviews. The primary goal is to make refereeing decisions more transparent and understandable for all stakeholders, including players, coaches, and fans.
Display of VAR Graphics on Stadium Screens
In addition to audio explanations, the league will implement the “VARDict” system during Serie A fixtures, starting from the 30th matchday. This system will display VAR graphics on giant screens within stadiums, informing spectators of ongoing reviews or extended VAR checks. The first match to feature this enhancement will be the Como vs. Empoli game on March 29, 2025.
