One of the most famous sport on the planet, simple admittance to playing football has not been the same for everybody.
For example: In Iran, women had been prohibited from going to live matches in stadiums for more than forty years.
Jafar Panahi’s 2006 film Offside recounts the tale of young girls kept in a holding pen for attempting to sneak into a World Cup qualifier match against Bahrain dressed as young men.
When girls need to utilize the restroom, they figure out that the stadium doesn’t have a latrine for ladies and a soldier should go with her to the men’s room.
SheGotGame is an organization started by Seerat Midha and Sarvesh Lokhande to promote gender equality in football. They want women in play to be respected equally as men are respected and want Indians to show the same level of interest for women’s Football as they show for men’s Football.
They organize regular football tournaments for the upliftment of women in this sport. They started off by organizing various small scale tournaments in Surat, Gujarat in the year 2020 and now have expanded their boundaries to the city of Mumbai.
Recently, they organized their first ever Pan-India All Women’s tournament at Prabhodhankar Thackrey Krida Sankul, Vile Parle (E), Mumbai in collaboration with Mumbai Girls Football (MGF). This was one of the largest Women’s 5-A Side Football Tournament of Mumbai, which accounted for a footfall of 116 Professional Female Football Players.
The event was supported by some renowned industry stalwarts such as Nivia, International Institute of Sports Management (IISM) and The Pink Box India. Furthermore, they plan to organize various activities and tournaments for the enhancement of Women’s Football and to raise the standards of Women’s football in the city, state and nation.
