The Indian team displayed remarkable dominance against the West Indies, excelling in both batting and bowling departments. It was a perfect series victory for India just ahead of the Asia Cup, maintaining their momentum in the 50-overs format of the game. The team management took the opportunity to experiment with new talents, and they performed impressively.

In this ODI, Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested, and Hardik Pandya led the Indian team. After winning the toss, West Indies chose to field first. The opening pair of Gill and Ishan had a strong start, scoring runs quickly and hitting the ball well, forming a solid opening partnership of 143 runs.

Yannic Cariah dismissed Ishan Kishan to break the opening partnership, while Ruturaj, who came in at number three, couldn’t make a significant impact and was dismissed for 8 runs by Alzarri Joseph. Later, Shubman Gill was joined by Sanju Samson, and they built a partnership of 69 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Sanju Samson was eventually dismissed after scoring a fine half-century.

Shubman Gill played an excellent innings of 85 runs but missed out on a well-deserved century. Captain Hardik Pandya concluded the innings with a gutsy knock of 70 runs off 52 balls. The combined efforts of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Sanju Samson helped India post a total of 351/5.

Chasing 352 runs, West Indies couldn’t handle the pressure and lost their top-order batsmen, with pacer Mukesh Kumar being instrumental in rattling the top order, finishing with impressive figures of 3/30 in seven overs. The West Indies team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for just 151, resulting in India’s convincing victory by 200 runs.

Shardul Thakur impressed everyone with his bowling skills, taking four wickets while conceding 37 runs in the 6.3 overs he bowled. Kuldeep Yadav managed to scalp two wickets, while Jaydev Unadkat, playing his first ODI in almost 10 years, took one wicket. This victory also allowed India to clinch the series 2-1.

Ishan Kishan was awarded the Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout the series. Shubman Gill was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 85 runs.
