This Test match was a remarkable experience for cricket fans worldwide. England made a stunning comeback despite being in a challenging situation and eventually emerged victorious. This match will be remembered for generations.

Australia lost three quick wickets and found themselves at 169/3. Then, Steve Smith and Travis Head steadied the innings, adding 95 runs for the 4th wicket. However, Moeen Ali dismissed Head, causing the 4th wicket to fall.

With 120 runs needed and six wickets in hand, Australia’s chances seemed decent. But the brilliance of Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali turned the game around, as Australia lost 4 quick wickets for just 11 runs. Woakes was exceptional, and Moeen Ali provided valuable support.

Australia struggled at 294/8, still needing 90 more runs to win. Alex Carey and Todd Murphy added some runs, but Stuart Broad, in his final Test match, dismissed both batters, finishing his illustrious career with 604 Test Wickets.

In the end, the hosts defeated Australia by 49 runs, as they were bowled out for 334 runs in the fifth and final Test of the Ashes 2023. The result led to a 2-2 scoreline for the Ashes series.

Chris Woakes was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance with the ball, taking three wickets in the first innings and four in the second. He also shared the Player of the Series title with Mitchell Starc, with both bowlers scalping 19 and 23 wickets, respectively.
