Smriti Mandhana Makes History With Record 124 in Dubai

Smriti Mandhana produced a sensational batting display in Dubai on Thursday, smashing a record-breaking 124 off just 64 balls against Hong Kong in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026.

The India opener’s extraordinary innings featured 14 fours and seven sixes, coming at a staggering strike rate of 193.75. Her performance helped India post 193/5 before the bowlers completed a dominant 137-run victory.

This Record by Smriti Mandhana was not limited to her score, however, as the Indian star rewrote multiple chapters of women’s international cricket history.

Smriti Mandhana Breaks Mithali Raj’s Run-Scoring Record

Mandhana’s 124 took her international tally to 10,880 runs, allowing her to overtake legendary Indian batter Mithali Raj’s previous record of 10,868 runs.

The milestone makes Mandhana the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket across all formats.

She reached the landmark during her 303rd international innings, moving ahead of both Mithali Raj and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates on the all-time list.

For Mandhana, the achievement adds another major milestone to a career that has already established her as one of India’s greatest batters.

18th International Century Sets Another Record

The Smriti Mandhana record continued to grow when she completed her century against Hong Kong.

The hundred was her 18th international century, taking her past former Australia captain Meg Lanning, who had 17 international hundreds.

Mandhana’s century therefore made her the leading century-maker in women’s international cricket.

It was also only her second century in Women’s T20 Internationals, coming after she became the first Indian woman to score international centuries across all three formats.

A Record-Breaking Night in Dubai

Mandhana’s innings was particularly important because India lost wickets at the other end after a strong opening partnership with Shafali Verma.

The opening pair added 74 runs from 47 balls, with Shafali contributing 28 before being dismissed.

Mandhana then took control of the innings, attacking Hong Kong’s bowlers and keeping India’s scoring rate high. She eventually finished with 124 from 64 deliveries, with her seven sixes and 14 boundaries doing much of the damage.

India eventually reached 193/5 from their 20 overs.

India Complete Dominant Victory

Hong Kong were unable to match India’s batting performance during the chase.

India’s bowlers dismantled the Hong Kong batting order, with Deepti Sharma taking 3/9 while Nandani Sharma, Prema Rawat and Shree Charani claimed two wickets each.

Hong Kong were bowled out for just 56, giving India a commanding 137-run victory.

The result was India’s second consecutive win in the tournament and strengthened their position at the top of Group A.
