In a remarkable exhibition of Test cricket, both teams showcased remarkable determination in their quest for victory. Ultimately, it was England who emerged as the triumphant side, winning the match and narrowing the series deficit to 2-1, thereby keeping their aspirations alive in the Ashes.

The morning session witnessed an early setback for England as Ben Duckett was unexpectedly dismissed. Moeen Ali was then sent in at number three but was swiftly dismissed once again, this time by Mitchell Starc. Joe Root and Zak Crawley subsequently formed a partnership, making valuable contributions to the team’s overall score.

However, this partnership was short-lived, as Australian captain Pat Cummins made a breakthrough, leaving England at a score of 93/3. Later on, Joe Root found a reliable ally in Harry Brook, and together they displayed some impressive strokes, steadily building on the team’s total.

Brook’s exceptional knock of 75 came close to sealing the game for England, but he was eventually dismissed by Starc. Notably, Brook and Chris Woakes shared a crucial match-winning partnership of 59 runs, with Woakes making a significant contribution of 32 runs to guide England to their victory.

After Brook’s dismissal, England found themselves requiring 24 runs to secure the victory. It was at this crucial moment that Mark Wood showcased his batting prowess, scoring a quickfire 16 runs off just eight deliveries and ultimately sealing the game for England. Australia put up a valiant fight, with Mitchell Starc taking five wickets to keep the match closely contested. However, the exceptional performances of Brook and Woakes prevented Australia from emerging victorious.

With this Test win, England has narrowed the series score to 2-1. In the forthcoming fourth match, England will continue to strive for competitiveness and aim to maintain their momentum.
