It was in 2011 when Neeraj Chopra first held a javelin in his hand. In those days, Neeraj was overweight, and his family convinced him to play sports to shed some weight. Neeraj was at first brought into playing cricket and volleyball before he was spotted by Jai Choudhary, who himself a javelin thrower.

Although, Neeraj Chopra considered javelin to be only a method for recreation to get his body in shape. Bringing Olympic brilliance to the country would not have been his far-off dream.

“Sports has become my identity. I took up the sport of javelin passionately in 2011. When I started my journey in fitness training, I was introduced to a variety of sports, but I found javelin to be the most appealing. Travelling back and forth from my village to where I trained was initially a challenge, however I had a supportive group that helped me overcome these barriers,” said the 24-year-old in an interview at (The Sports Heroes)

What separates Neeraj Chopra is his mental strength. While there are many Indian track and field competitors who are equipped for winning a medal assuming they match their best exhibitions at that level, just Neeraj Chopra has effectively figured out how to do as such. This says a lot about his mental strength.

Neeraj Chopra was out-of-action for the entire of 2019 because of an elbow surgery. 2019 was a vital year in the Tokyo Olympic capability cycle for Olympic style events occasions. He would have been chomping at the bit to go post his medical procedure.

“Knowing that others are training while I couldn’t practice as I was recovering after surgery did bring about a lot of negativity in me. But as my healing progressed, I got back in training and seeing the positivity in my team, including in the physios, coach, and others around me, I felt quite motivated to stay on track and remain positive myself,” he said.

Viewpoint is one of the main things that separates the great from the normal, or the great from the incredible. At the point when you initially start sports there are sure standards you learn early, and you figure out how to always remember them.

Neeraj understood the need to have a smooth recuperation before he partook regardless. His understanding delivered him rich profits, as in his first contest post recuperation, he accomplished the Tokyo Olympics capability mark with a work of 87.86 meters, which unexpectedly was his second-best throw of all time.

Even though Neeraj has experienced a ton of promising and less promising times in his profession, it is his will to comeback that makes him the champion that he is. Without a doubt, Indians will value Neeraj’s Olympic gold medal for quite a long time into the future.

What Neeraj has accomplished requires a lot of hard work and determination. Hailing from the little town of Khandra in Haryana’s Panipat region, he stepped along numerous lopsided ways to script his name into the history books.

The Indian Army, Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force have given many excellent sportspersons throughout the years and Neeraj Chopra too has absorbed and delivered the best a sportsperson can propose at the global stage.

“The journey I undertook to reach where I am today has been enjoyable, because every aspiring athlete has to work hard to achieve their goals, and I truly enjoy hard work. It was enjoyable despite the many hurdles I had to face, but when I look back upon my path in life, I’m happy to see where I am right now and how I made it here,” said the Tokyo Olympic gold-medalist.

“As a soldier, I believe that everybody feels a sense of pride whenever our National Anthem is played. India garners immense respect from the people, other nations, and when our anthem plays on foreign soil, people, athletes, and officials all show great respect to both our anthem and country,” he added.

While Neeraj Chopra’s golden moment is a fresh start in Indian games, the year also witnessed the end of an era with the demise of legendary Milkha Singh – one of India’s most noteworthy sporting icons. Aged 91, the ‘Flying Sikh’ passed away, only several months prior to Neeraj Chopra’s notable accomplishment.

Neeraj Chopra dedicated his persuasive accomplishment to Milkha Singh who had longed for seeing an Indian winning an Olympic gold in games before his demise.

“I have been fortunate enough to meet Milkha Singh ji, a few times during my career as an athlete. He was a very kind and peaceful person, and I found out much more about him only after his biopic came out, because one can’t know of his hardships, struggles, and success-story just by seeing him in person,” he said.

“He always maintained the dream of wanting an Indian athlete win a Gold medal at the Olympics, and it was truly heartbreaking to know that he passed away barely a few months prior to the event taking place. So, when I won my medal, I remembered this dream of his and so, decided to dedicate my medal to him, in his glory,” he added.

What the Indian Olympians of Tokyo 2020 – particularly Neeraj Chopra – has done, is beyond value. That is on the grounds that separated from tapping the rear of older style pride, they have likewise abruptly opened the fascination of more than a billion people.

Everything we can presume is that on 7 August 2021, after that momentous throw, many new dreams were conceived. There was no such thing as those fantasies before the 87.58.
