Pakistan began their ODI World Cup campaign with an 81-run triumph over the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan managed a respectable total of 286/10 despite a top-order collapse. Saud Shakeel and Muhammed Rizwan rescued the innings with both contributing 68 runs.
Mohammed Nawaz and Shadab Khan also made significant contributions with the bat, scoring over 30 runs each. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi added valuable runs with boundaries, pushing Pakistan to a total of 286 runs.
In response, the Netherlands had a decent start but lost some early wickets. Opener Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede led the Dutch charge, with Vikramjit Singh scoring 52 runs off 67 balls before falling to Shadab, while Bas de Leede was dismissed by Mohammed Nawaz after scoring 67 runs off 68 balls.
Bas de Leede was a standout performer for the Dutch, contributing both with the bat and ball by taking four crucial wickets.
Unfortunately, no other batter made a significant impact, and the Netherlands were eventually bowled out for 205 runs in 41 overs, resulting in a loss to Pakistan.
Saud Shakeel was named the Player of the Match for his impressive performance.
