Rashid Khan stepped down as captain of Afghanistan’s T20 team with prompt impact after a conflict with the ACB. He was not happy that the selection panel and ACB didn’t counsel or take his assent prior to declaring Afghanistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup.
He soon posted a tweet in which he passed on his dismay over ACB’s activities. The leg-spinner additionally reported his choice to leave the administration obligations in a similar post.
“As the captain and responsible person for the nation, I reserve the right to be part of the selection of the team. The selection committee and ACB has not obtained my consent for the team which has been announced by ACB media,” said Rashid Khan in a tweet.
“I am taking the decision of stepping down of stepping down from the role as the captain of the Afghanistan T20 side effective immediately. It’s always my proud playing for Afghanistan,” he added.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board did formally report Rashid Khan as the captain of the team for the World Cup.
Now that Rashid Khan took the decision to step down as the captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup, all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will lead the side in UAE.
“At this critical stage, I admire the decision of ACB for the announcement of leading the National Cricket Team in T20 Format. InshaAllah together we will present a great picture of the Nation in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” said Mohammad Nabi.
Afghanistan has procured direct qualification to the Super 12 phase of the tournament. Afghanistan will confront extreme difficulties inside the group. They need to defeat the difficulties presented by three most established to meet all requirements for the knock-out stage.
