At the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Jemimah Rodrigues’ merciless late assault helped propel India past rival Pakistan.
The Indian No. 3 crushed a magnificent 53 not out off only 38 deliveries to help her team beat the winning goal of 150 with one over to spare.

With 33 placed on the board going into the final over of the powerplay, India’s chase of the target got off to a strong start thanks to the opening pair of Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma.
However, Pakistan quickly struck, removing Bhatia for 17 after chipping straight to Fatima Sana, who had a simple catch at cover.
Before Pakistan claimed their second victim, Verma, who took a cautious approach to reaching a score of 33 off 25 balls, Sidra pulled off an incredible catch on the boundary off Nashra.
Nashra’s outstanding middle overs stint kept Pakistan in the game, and she quickly struck again by removing Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Kaur was caught by Bismah’s opposite number while attempting a slog sweep on 16, and she was dismissed.
That appeared to put Pakistan on the verge of triumph, but India rallied in impressive fashion, with Rodrigues and Ghosh leading the assault.
In the 17th and 18th overs, the dangerous pair scored a combined 27 runs, leaving their team needing just 14 runs from the final 12 balls.
Rodrigues hit three fours off Sana’s final over to get her amazing half-century and lead her team to a thrilling T20 World Cup victory, meaning they just needed half of that total to win.
