Introduction

When one hears the word “striker” in football, a lot of names come to people’s mind, like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Ronaldo Nazario, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Robert Lewandowski , Thierry Henry and many other world-class players. There is one more who is just brilliant striker. Like a machine he never stops scoring and amazes people with his talent and hard work. However, his brilliance is overlooked and gets hidden due to him not being able to win a major football competition. That phenomenal striker is none other than the England Captain and Bayern Munich forward, Harry Kane.

Harry Kane is a goal machine, a storm, a giant. These are the words that can describe his performance in this sport. Harry Kane, is known exceptionally for his finishing and shooting skills as well creative passes.  He has all the exceptional skills to have as a number 9 player. However, his journey into the world of football was not simple and straightforward.

From an Arsenal reject to Tottenham’s white knight

Harry Kane joined Arsenal Youth Academy when he was just 8 years old. But he was released after just one season, for being a little chubby and not very athletic. He also had a trial at Tottenham Hotspurs but was not successful. He then returned to his boyhood club Ridgeway Rovers. At the age of eleven, he was given a chance on trial basis in Watford for few weeks.  It was there that he showed an impressive performance against Tottenham and hence got another chance at Tottenham.  After that, he became an amazing youth talent for the club and within a few years, he became the all-time top scorer and the knight in shining armour for the Hotspurs.

Spurs Hero

Spurs Hero

Kane was a hero for Tottenham, a world class player, he broke many records of club history as well premier league records. The Kane & Son duo are known as the deadly duo in premier league as they play like they understand each other’s every move and crafting a splendid goal together. The duo has a record of highest G/A in the English Premier League. Not only that, but Kane is also the record goal scorer for Tottenham Hotspurs F.C. Kane is the second highest goal scorer of all time in Premier league history with 213 goals. Harry Kane also has 3 premier league golden boots which gives him the status of greatness.

Goals galore but no trophies

Even if Kane was a fantastic player with his team, he has not won anything yet even though there were many times the team came so close to glory in the Premier league and Champions league. Tottenham last won the trophy in 2008 and since then the club has been in a trophy drought. This led to a lot of memes and trolls towards them, particularly against Kane and have been tagged as bottlers or cursed ever since. Kane’s lack of trophies really put him in the shadows on social media.

The Pride of National team

Kane’s journey so far in the national team is somewhat the same, failing to win the titles but never giving up. The England National Football team is considered as one of the best teams in the international competitions. Not because they have too many titles or anything, but because they are known to produce many top tier talents in the world over the years.

Kane played for England in the age category under 17, under 18, under 19, under 21 and then started playing for the senior team in 2015. Kane was later made the captain of the National team in 2017 and till date. Kane’s individual achievements for the national team is nothing but a legacy. Kane is the record goal scorer of all time for the English National team which is 71 goals in 105 appearances.

Kane was awarded the 2018 world cup Golden boot, having scored six goals in the competition. He next won the 2024 Euro golden boot where he scored 3 goals in the competition. Although England reached the finals of 2020 Euros and 2024 Euros, they lost both the finals. Kane again didn’t win the silverware for his career. The situation of lack of silverware only gives him the title of ‘the King with no crown’.

The first season…

In 2023, Kane joined the German giants of Bundesliga Bayern Munich FC hoping to win a title there. Bayern Munich consecutive wins of 11 Bundesliga and great form made Kane make the decision to leave the club as the German club was one of the top 5 clubs in Europe. However, Kane was found again unlucky as Bayern’s Bundesliga streak came to an end with being in third position in the table in the 2023/2024 season. Bayer Leverkusen won the title then and put Bayern’s streak to an end because of the genius of Xabi Alonso, the manager of Leverkusen.

Yet again Kane had a fantastic season of scoring goals for the team. Kane scored a total of 36 goals in his Bundesliga debut, receiving the Torjägerkanone as a top scorer of the league. Kane also won the European Golden Shoe award for being the highest goal scorer in Europe in all competitions in the 2023/2024 season. But this achievement was again overshadowed by the fact that he did not win any trophy. Fans started trolling Kane, suggesting that he has a curse, to not win the trophies.

Is the wait finally over? Fingers crossed..

However, the end of the curse might be near as Kane with Bayern Munich are most likely to win the Bundesliga with only 2 matches remaining. Yesterday’s game would have made Bayern win the title early if they would have won the match against Leipzig. Unfortunately, it was a draw, and the trophy ceremony must wait until Bayern win the next matches or Leverkusen lose their match, it all now depends on the next matches. But Bayern now has almost ninety nine percent chance to win the league.

Will this be the end of the curse? I sure hope so and so do all of Harry Kane’s fans.
