The West Indies team displayed dominance in the crucial match that decided the series outcome against India. They excelled both with the bat and the ball, clinching the T20I series victory against India, after 2016.

Winning the toss, India chose to bat first. The opening pair couldn’t make a significant impact, facing early dismissals. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma built a 49-run partnership for the third wicket before Roston Chase’s stunning catch sent Varma back to the pavilion.

India kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Suryakumar Yadav consistently accumulated runs. Unfortunately, the middle-order batters struggled to capitalise and surrendered their wickets. Suryakumar Yadav played a vital role by scoring 61 runs but was dismissed by Jason Holder.

Romario Shepherd showcased exceptional bowling skills, claiming four wickets, while Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein took two wickets each. Their excellent bowling performance restricted India to a total of 161/9.

In pursuit of the 162-run target, West Indies stumbled early with the dismissal of Kyle Mayers by Arshdeep Singh. However, this setback didn’t deter West Indies, as Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran wreaked havoc on the Indian bowlers, establishing a formidable 107-run partnership for the second wicket.

Tilak Varma achieved his maiden T20I wicket by dismissing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran. Pooran contributed a crucial 47 runs to the team’s cause. Brandon King shone brightly in the series-deciding match, sealing victory with a six and an unbeaten knock of 85* off 55 balls.

Brandon King earned the Player of the Match award, while Pooran was honoured as the Player of the Series.
