Six-times Grand Slam champion Boris Becker was imprisoned two years and six months by a London court on Friday for concealing countless pounds of assets after he was declared bankrupt.
Becker was indicted recently of four charges under Britain’s Insolvency Act, including neglecting to reveal, hiding and eliminating critical assets following a liquidation trial.
The 54-year-old six-times Grand Slam champion was seen as at fault for moving cash to his ex Barbara and alienated spouse Sharlely after his 2017 chapter 11.
“It is notable you have not shown remorse or acceptance of your guilt,” judge Deborah Taylor told him as she sentenced him at London’s Southwark Crown Court.
“While I accept the humiliation you have felt as a result of these proceedings, you have shown no humility.”
She said Becker would carry out a portion of his punishment in jail and the rest of permit. Becker, whose accomplice Lillian and child Noah were in court, gazed directly ahead and showed no feeling as the sentence was given over.
He was recently indicted for tax avoidance in Germany in 2002, for which he got a suspended jail sentence.
