South Africa continues their hot form in this World Cup as they have defeated Bangladesh convincingly and climbed up in the points table at no.2 position. A dominant batting display by Quinton de Kock proved to be pivotal as South Africa thrashed Bangladesh at Wankhede.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting paradise. Quinton de Kock who was playing his 150th ODI game smashed the Bangladeshi bowlers all over the ground. Though South Africa lost two quick wickets at the start, de Kock managed to hold from one side and later he was joined by skipper Aiden Markram who played a vital knock of 60(69). Both de Kock and Markram added 131 runs partnership for the third wicket.

Later in form batter Heinrich Klassen who scored a brilliant hundred in the last match paired up with de Kock. Quinton and Klassen then wreaked havoc on the Bangladeshi bowlers. Quinton de Kock was dismissed on 174 which is the highest score in the ODI World Cup.

After his dismissal, Heinrich Klassen then paired up with David Miller and then the boundaries were raining all over the ground. Klassen and Miller finished the innings in style. Klassen missed on his ton as he was dismissed on 90 and Miller with his explosive knock of 34(15) helped the Proteas to set a target of 383 runs.

Chasing a big total, Bangladesh struggled at the start as they lost half of their side in just 58 runs. South Africa bowlers gave a glimpse of their previous match which they played against England.

Mahmudullah just managed to score a ton but there wasn’t any chance for Bangladesh as there was no support for Mahmudullah from the other end. Apart from Mahmudullah, no other Bangladeshi batter managed to score more than 20 runs and eventually, they lost the game as they were bowled out for 233.

Gerald Coetzee scalped three wickets, while Marco Jansen, debutant Lizaad Williams and Kagiso Rabada scalped two wickets each and Keshav Maharaj picked one wicket.

South Africa won by a massive margin of 149 runs further increasing their NRR. Quinton de Kock was adjudged the Player of the Match for his fiery knock of 174(140). South Africa will face Pakistan next on 27th October at Chennai.
